Spanish Exchange program welcomes it’s newest physician

The Hand Center would like to welcome it's newest resident participating in our Spanish Exchange program, Dr. Gloria Talavera.

She  was born in Madrid, but her entire family comes from a little village near Cuenca, called Casas de Haro.

She earned her medical degree at Universidad Complutense, the biggest university in Madrid. She spent the last years of undergraduate studies in Gregorio Marañon Hospital, where it became clear that she wanted to choose a surgical speciality. After MIR, the spanish exam that is required to choose internship and field of specialization, she was able to get her first choice: Orthopedic Surgery in La Paz.

She is currently in her third year of training and knows that she made the right choice: "I have found an enthusiasic and skilled team, active in research, that has allowed me to quickly gain experience and knowledge in the field."

She is fluent in English, Spanish and Lengua de Signos española. Her main hobbies are reading and going to the cinema whenever she can. However, her biggest passion is traveling. She has visited Malasya and Singapore and plans to visit Japan or China this summer.

Upon arriving to The Hand Center, she has hit the ground running - learning from a multitude of different clinical and surgical settings. Enjoy your stay in San Antonio, Dr. Talavera!
